What Game Engine Does Rust Use?

I can tell you with certainty that Rust, the multiplayer survival game created by Facepunch Studios, uses the Unity game engine. I've worked with Unity extensively, and it's a powerful tool for creating immersive 3D environments like those found in Rust.

During my time following Rust's development, I noticed a significant visual upgrade when the game was ported to Unity 5 during its Early Access phase. This move showcased Unity's capabilities and allowed the developers to enhance the game's graphics substantially.

Unity's versatility and robust feature set make it an excellent choice for a complex multiplayer game like Rust.

From my experience, Unity provides developers with the tools they need to create expansive worlds, implement intricate gameplay mechanics, and optimize performance for online play.
